✨ Inspiration  ✨

Inspiration is a funny thing. Usually, when actively looking for it most of the time you don’t find it. (At least in my experience) I get my inspiration from many things. From just a random thought when eating to working out or in the shower.

In my first book series The Star Battle, book one is about the discovery of a new race of people where they can morph or transform into cheetahs. That idea I was inspired by a book called Serafina and the Twisted Staff by Robert Beatty. In that book, (Spoiler alert!) someone transforms into an owl. A day or two after that I came up with a cool idea of a human transforming into a cheetah.

Inspiration can come from many sources. Sometimes it depends on the person, and other times it depends on what you’re doing to get inspired.

For me, inspiration comes from many places, the shower, biking, walking in like a park, reading, and sometimes it just comes when I’m not expecting it.

Whenever I get an idea for a book, my website, etc, I write it down in a small notebook I have. Once I start getting inspired like in the shower, for example, the ideas just keep flowing and coming. Sometimes when that happens I get enough ideas to create an entire book.

I forgot to mention that I also get inspiration from dreams. A lot of book ideas for other books I want to write come from dreams I have, getting the idea of a human morphing into a cheetah isn’t what really triggered me to write the series, I needed to come up with more ideas if I were going to write a book.

That night I went to sleep, thinking about those cheetahs, presto! I had a dream about me having these crazy powers and fighting someone who transformed into a cheetah.

Over time from random thoughts or from taking a quiet, thoughtful shower, I finally got enough ideas for a book.

The most important thing for looking for inspiration is patience. Looking for inspiration for a book, song, poem, whatever takes time.

There’s one more thing that you could do to get inspiration or ideas for something. Think about a game that you like, random objects, anything. Write these down (or type) then look at everything you thought of. Try maybe combining ideas or thoughts together to see what you come up with, eventually, the thoughts should start flowing.

Hopefully, this helped you get inspiration, or just expanded your knowledge in the subject. This is all from experience, (except the last one where you write down ideas, I haven’t tried that one yet, but it’s bound to work, don’t worry.) don’t worry if these methods don’t work, sometimes it can be different depending on the person. Let me know in the comments if you have anything I could add, any more ways to get inspiration.
