4/13/22 Prompt #4
Sweat was pouring everywhere, dirt, ore, and stone were flying, and minecarts wooshed by.
“Hey, Drug! How’re you hang’in?” My guard asked.
“Don’t smile at me like there’s a rainbow outside. You know as well as I do that there’s no rainbow. At least not in here,” I grunted.
“On come on, look on the bright side! I’m stuck here with you, and all you have to do is mine, mine mine! All the while, everyone else has to deal with the huge problem in the world right now, which you caused! You got it good!” he said.
I signed. “Neither of those things are bright sides. Plus, there is nothing bright in here; we’re underground!” I bellowed.
“Alright, fine. I’ll stop being optimistic,” he pouted.
“That’s better. Now, when am I going to get outta here?” I demanded, hacking away at the stone. “I have… many bruises in many places that have to… heal,”
“Woah, I didn’t need to know that. You know the rules, ‘captive cannot know if or when he/she/it will be let out.’ Quoted from my commander. You know this,” my guard explained.
I spat. “Screw your commander. We’re all wondering, though. Even my cabin mate Mr. Creepyface over there, and I could tell, even though he doesn’t speak common!” I gestured to the alien to my right, who looked up with its two wonder-filled eyes.
“Well, that’s what ya’ll get. That’s what you deserve. Now, back to work!” My guard demanded.
